Wow! It's been HOW long since I've posted????

I cannot believe it's been so long ... about six weeks. I've been taking care of my dad who has been battling lung cancer for the past few years and some other medical problems. He is on the mend again ... Yea! God is Good!!!

I just completed Curt's Valentine's Day mini album. I saw this paper from Pinecone Press and knew I had to do something. Add that to my new purchase of the Loops Heart punch set from Martha Stewart and it just took off.

I also purchased the Love Coupons for this kit and put one in each pocket. I really like how it turned out and know Curt will enjoy it.

I'm Channeling my Angry Bird ...

I follow The Paper Boutique and just love her designs. Well, she usually has a Fab Five Friday and I get a kick out of going to all the blogs she highlights. I was floored when she had Designs by Sharon as part of her Fab Five Friday and I saw her Snowman Lanterns (her December 6th posting). Well, I was looking through her fabulous blog and found the most stinkin' cute things ...

Aren't these just precious! After reading that Sharon used the Cricut Sweet Tooth Boxes I just followed her pictures ... and, of course, broke out my game! I also used my Cricut Craft Room for the faces and embellishments. I plan on using them for treats at Christmas ... I think I'll finally "wow" my sons ... I mean who doesn't know and love the Angry Birds!

Christmas Recipe Book

This is one of the projects I have been working on while learning Cricut Craft Room. It is another design by Laura Denison called the Leftovers Recipe Book/Mini Album. I made mine a recipe book for my favorite Christmas recipes. The papers and chipboard pieces are from Jolly by Golly by Cosmo Cricket. I've had these papers in my stash and was thrilled to finally use them. I used Cricut cartridge From My Kitchen for "Recipes" and I used my Slice Paws & Claws for "Favorites" and Spook Alley for the peppermints.

This is the Cookies section and although the word Cookies doesn't show up real well here, you can actually make it out very well when looking at the book. I, again, used the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge for "Cookies" and the gingerbread men. I also embossed the gingerbread cookies using a Cuttlebug Christmas tree embossing folder.

This is how a recipe card looks in the section. They just slide in and come out very easily. It fits a 4x6 card perfectly!

This next section is "Candy" and I used the Cricut cartridge From My Kitchen for this too. I used the cartridge Joys of the Season for the peppermint candies and candy cane.

This last section is the "Pie" section also done with my From My Kitchen cartridge. I used the same cartridge for the pie shown there.

I just added this photo to show my most favorite feature of this recipe book! The bottom portion of the outer cover can "pop out" for that easel effect so you can prop the book up and read your recipes.

My Christmas Recipe Book really helped me learn Cricut Craft Room because I love using a shadow with items I cut and I was having a huge problem getting that to work. Of course, it was just a simple button I needed to push to get it to work ... duh ... but when you aren't familiar with the program it just takes a bit.

Busy, busy, busy ...

I have been so bad about posting on my blog lately. Some of you may notice that I am not on the Keystone Scraps Creative Team right now. I absolutely LOVE these ladies ... but with some serious family issues with my dad's health I felt it best to leave. I cannot say enough great things about Keystone Scraps and their talent and creative team, but I needed to give them 100% for all they do for us and didn't feel I could do that right now.

I am slowly getting back in to some paper crafting and playing with my new toy ...

I got this right after we returned from our road trip to Birmingham ... and what an awesome trip it was ... I'll show pictures tomorrow from that trip. :)

Anyway, I have been getting to know my Cricut Expression 2 and trying to learn Cricut Craft Room. My first HUGE disappointment was that the Expression 2 does NOT support Cricut Design Studio, which I used all the time. Anything I do with my Cricut was through Design Studio! It was my fault for not researching everything including compatibility between the E2 and Design Studio, but I assumed Provo Craft would have their products all compatible with the newer machines. My bad ...

I have been teaching myself Cricut Craft Room (which is free from www.cricut.com) and must say, as upset as I was about having to use something other than Design Studio, I do like alot of the things in Craft Room. I have put a lot of time in to learning this software and how it works with the E2 and my Gypsy. Most of this has been through trial and error. The Cricut boards are great for finding answers too. I have also found some great tutorials on YouTube. The more I get used to using Craft Room the more I am liking it. There are some bugs they need to get ironed out though. I also like that I can take my ".cut" files from Design Studio and convert them to ".gypsy" files and then just use my Gypsy to cut from the E2. The E2 has WiFi capability, but I am not even going there cause I've seen so many problems with it right now. I am happy just using it with the cable.

Hopefully I will soon have something to show for all my studying and playing around.

As some of your know, I am a huge fan of Laura Denison. I saw her Halloween castle and my jaw just dropped ... then I saw her Gingerbread Castle and knew I had to do that project. Among all the things happening around here I have been working on my "Up On The Rooftop" Castle ... which looks just like her Gingerbread castle with a few changes :) .

Stinkin' cute huh! Now watch when the drawbridge is down ...

This was so much fun to make. I'm not totally finished until I complete the mini album that fits inside, but I'll be working on that and let you see when I am finished.

I also apologize for my pictures. Geez, was I so tired last night that I was leaning to the right????? I'll work on that!

Fun in Orlando!

Good morning everyone! Well, I'm through with the scrapping event and on my last day at Disney. We had a blast scrapping. Below is a picture of my sweet girlfriends and we're wearing some of the Mickey tie dye shirts I made for us.

I do have to say that it is hot, hot, hot here in Orlando! Here are some fun sights from Disney World!

I'm in Orlando Scrapping with my Girlfriends!

I am now in Orlando at the annual SDV I attend in Orlando with my girlfriends. So much of the fun is making "goodies" for the ladies. Here are some pictures of what I've been working on.

I also made some mini albums for the girls. For my three Florida BFF's I made these...

They named themselves the Scrap-ateers.

I then made a mini album for my sweet Texas BFF's. Jackie, Wren and I all went to high school together and then we adopted the youngster, Robyn, and brought her along on our fun trips .. sure glad we did!

MouseScrappers First Collab Kit to Benefit Give Kids the World!

MouseScrappers.com is thrilled to bring you a first... a collab kit that will benefit a very special place: Give Kids the World.

Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) is a 70-acre, nonprofit "storybook" resort, located near Central Florida's most beloved attractions, where children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are treated to week long, cost-free fantasy vacations. Their mission is to fulfill wishes of children as long as there is need - and to never turn a child away. GKTW works very closely with organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fulfill these wishes. Make-A-Wish qualifies the families and provides transportation to the Orlando area, and GKTW provides a week of accommodations, food and theme park tickets - all at no cost to the families. It is almost entirely staffed by friendly, loving volunteers (or "Angels", as they are called) who greet everyone with a warm smile. The facilities around the resort were designed with special needs in mind (e.g. a carousel that accommodates wheel chairs)... and pretty much all 'typical' household rules are thrown out the window. If a child wants ice cream for breakfast, they can have it! Anything to help them forget about doctor visits, hospitals, therapy, etc - if only for a week. Give Kids the World relies on donations - so MouseScrappers is proud to be able to do our part to help. 100% of the revenue generated from the sale of this kit will be donated to Give Kids the World. We Will Never Forget ...

No one will forget the horrific events that transpired on September 11, 2001. It is one of those poignant moments in history that you remember exactly where you were when it happened, when you heard, and remember how you felt. Today we are releasing a mini freebie kit to honor those who lost their lives that tragic day in history ten years ago. Just Finished My Speed Scrap ...

and that was a blast!!! I'll list my instructions and my layout for those who wonder just what a speed scrap is. These were the instructions ...

Use an even number of photos ... and let's line them up in some fashion.
For each patterned paper use two solid papers, yes, you have to use at least one pattern paper.
As my layout journaling shows ... what goes around comes around so use some circles on your layout.
Since I'm so happy to be hosting my first speed scrap ... use an alpha that is fun and makes YOU happy!
I am not the best at journaling, but I love when someone challenges me to do so ... yea, you've got it! I'm going to challenge you to journal and just tell a bit about what is happening in your layout ... at least two sentences.
Let's scare up some word art for this creative layout you are doing ... two WordArt elements or two word strips -or- both ... eek!
We're going to tie this speed scrap up in a pretty package so use some ribbon or string on your layout.

Round Two!! Had a lot of problems with my computer today for some reason ... certainly couldn't be the person operating the machine ... nah! Thanks Donna for hosting the morning speed scrap at MouseScrappers. Here is my layout ...

For some reason I really wanted to play around with extractions so my two pictures on the bottom are just that ... extractions! I am a huge fan of Halloween decorations at Disney. Maybe that is because I don't decorate at all for Halloween here.

I used the kit being offered as a participation prize for this speed scrap ... "Not That Scary" by Keystone Scraps and another of their kits called "Sweetest Spring". If you miss one of the speed scraps you can always go to their store and pick up "Not That Scary" packaged as a bundle -or- you can purchase just the part of the kit you missed.

Keystone Scraps is hosting a Mini Monster-thon Speed Scrap this weekend at MouseScrappers and I am so excited about hosting my first Speed Scrap challenge! There will be 5 Speed Scrap challenges and when you finish all five you will have the complete "Not That Scary" kit with WordArt and Templates as your participation prizes from Keystone Scraps. There will also be some surprises given away during the chats for the Speed Scraps. Come join us!!

For those of you who aren't familiar with what a speed scrap is ... well, the Speed Scrap will consist of 7 instructions, i.e. use an even number of photos, use staples or brads on your layout ... instructions like that. The instructions are given at the top of the hour and then every 10 minutes during that hour. The layout should be Disney related since we are on MouseScrappers and you can use any kit you want to ... just follow the instructions on the content. The August Kit Challenge has the most adorable kit made by californiateri! I just finished my layout, but go over to MouseScrappers and look at this month's kit and join in the fun.

These pictures are from Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom at Disney World. We had a character breakfast there last year and right when you walk in you see these incredible topiaries. Just magical!

Travel Mini Album

I just finished this travel mini album for my niece who just returned from Italy. This is a Laura Denison mini album called Split Paper Bag Mini Album. I just love the handles on this mini. You can look at Laura's other mini albums on her blog here.

As you can see there is plenty of room for journaling in this mini album.

I pulled out the tags that are in the pockets here.

This is just a close up of the flower attached to those pull out tags.

Again, lots of room for pictures! The above folds out to the four sections seen below.

I haven't participated in the Template Challenge at Scrap Matters for awhile. Here are a couple layouts I did today.

This template challenge was hosted by Tanya and I used her kit called "You're A Peach". I just love those colors!

I liked that template so much I also made this layout just for myself. I used "Backyard BBQ" by Connie Prince and highlighted the Picnic Mini Album I made for my sister and her sweet hubby for their anniversary.

I just now finished a layout for a Template Challenge hosted by Cami. For this challenge I used a new kit by Jady Day called "A Wizarding World". I also used the Harry Potter digital stamp by Bugaboo Stamps (they call it Har Repotter in their store).

Had a great birthday celebration yesterday. Lunch with family at one of our favorite restaurants, Alamo Cafe. How can you beat chicken fajitas and the best queso in town. Watching a movie and having it interrupted for a rare thunderstorm. Hey, when you have been as dry as we have been here in Texas then a thunderstorm is awesome!

Loved hearing my family and friends' best wishes and happy birthday messages. Life is Good!

Just finished a layout for the Template Challenge by Jenn at MouseScrappers. This template had the punch outs too and was so much fun to work with. Here is my layout ...

This layout is from a wonderful trip I took in March of 2008 to see my sweet niece and her best friend perform at Universal with their performance choir. After that we stayed at Disney for a few days and toured the parks. It is a trip that I will never forget and always have magical memories of!

Tuesday Speed Scrap at MouseScrappers!

I loved the instructions for this Speed Scrap. The member hosting has a husband currently serving in the Navy away from home.

Her instructions were:

There are 5 branches of service. Please include 5 stars (pixie dust doesn't count for stars in this context)
There are thirteen stripes in our flag. Please include striped paper.
A man in uniform is just plain handsome! Please include two of the following colors: Olive green, Gold, Navy blue,white.
My husband is out to sea right now, please include something metal in your layout to represent the steel ship.
Until they all come home, please include something yellow.
"You're a grand old flag...and for ever in peace may you wave" please include something wavy.
Please include the phrase "thank you" in your journaling.

I used two kits from Britt-ish Designs ... Made in America and Just Plain Fun.

It was so moving to see the pride on others faces and hear in their voices as they said the Pledge and sang "God Bless America" at the American Adventure in Epcot during the Drum & Fife Corps. performance. Thank you to all the men and women serving in our armed forces ... God Bless you and your families!

I have got to say I love this layout ... these are my beautiful sweet girls ... well, not actually my girls, but I am an honorary aunt to them and just think they are two of the most wonderful young ladies on earth!

We had the most wonderful time at Disney World and just some of the most precious memories for me.

Cake Smash Challenge at MouseScrappers!

What a fun challenge!! Okay we were asked to go to the gallery and pick two layouts we liked ... take each of those layouts ... SMASH them together and come up with your own layout. Kind of a scraplift challenge, but on steriods ... LOL.

Bake Me a Cake Challenge

I just finished another challenge at MouseScrappers 2nd Birthday Celebration ... We were given a "recipe" of patterned paper, an odd number of photos, two different types of ribbons, a title, a pinch of sparkle, & shadows ... we were then to add some optional ingredients. I added flowers, a frame, a hidden Mickey (see if you can find him), word art, journaling and a date. Whew!! Here it is:

I used Cindy's Layered Template Set #78 by Cindy Schneider, Retro Diner by Natalie's Place Designs, Retro Diner Freebie by Cynthia Young Designs, Filed Frame Stickers by Miss Mint, and Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust by Britt-ish Designs.

My next layout is for the Hopscotch Challenge. We had to include one hidden Mickey, two scatters, three ribbons, four frames, five photos, six leaves, seven papers, eight rectangles, nine buttons, and ten flowers.

I used Template Freebie #24 from MJ-AJ Designs, Land of Adventure and Land of Adventure Word Art by Kellybell Designs.

Two blog awards in one day! I am thrilled to say the least and want to thank What's Scrappin! and Creating with Gypsy. When I first heard about "blogging" I never pictured myself even starting my own blog. Now, I look forward to posting to my blog and, most of all, enjoy visiting so many incredibly talented people through their blogs. As you can see in a previous post I participated in a "Link the Love" party through Getting Cricky with K Andrew and I spent many hours marveling at the talent and creativity out there. Through one of the blogs I started following ... What's Scrappin! ... I have received this blog award ... thank you so much!!!

I received the following blog award from Tina at Creating with Gypsy. The first thing I did notice though was the picture Tina had on her blog ... I remembered her blog well cause the first time I saw it I thought "McDreamy scraps?!?!". You will just have to visit her blog to see what I mean ... heehee.

I am to write 7 things about my self and pass on to 15 people ... you know how I feel about writing about myself so you have 5 above and here are two more:

I love crocheting but haven't done much. I seem to have a problem with measuring a correct size for afghans. My first one would have been perfect if you were 7' tall and narrow of body ... my second one is looking like I should be doing this for basketball players cause it is perfect if you are 8' tall and just about as narrow as the first one. :)
I love to plan trips to Disney World. Okay, I know it's a "duh" moment, but like I said I have a really hard time writing about myself.

Another Template Challenge!

We had the most wonderful day spending it with my sister-in-law and nephews! After a relaxing lunch and then a fun game of Phase 10 ... we taught Betsy (my sister-in-law) how to play a few months ago and since then she has NEVER lost! Yes, she won again today ... LOL ... we had so much fun though.

Before turning in for the evening I wanted to finish a template challenge at MouseScrappers that was ending today. Loved the template by Donna and used a new kit by Kellybell Designs called City of Tomorrow ... just came out today. I scrapped the segway tour Curt and I took at Epcot in 2008. I made the reservation for this tour and Curt wasn't thrilled about it, but was willing to give it a try. After we were about 10 minutes into our training session Curt was totally into this segway business!! If you are ever at Epcot and see someone on a segway with "little duckies" following behind ... that was what we did!!! They take you to the World Showcase before it opens at 11:00AM and you get to go through some of the countries and then they have a section set up for you to just have fun. We certainly did!!
